WE ARE YOUR FRIENDS

Plot:

Thanks to the DJ the nightlife in Los Angeles is always on point and for four guys who have been friends since they were kids they want to be a part of it. Cole (Efron), Mason (Weston), Ollie (Fernandez) and Squirrel (Shaffer) hussle and bussle, nickle and diming just to get by. But for Cole who is a DJ on the rise he wants more and is soon given that opportunity when he encounters a famous world renowned older DJ named James Reed (Bentley) who takes him under his wing to teach him. But what Cole did not count on is him falling for Jame's live in girlfriend, the young beautiful Sophie (Ratajkowski) which only complicates matters for them all. Not only does he have to deal with this but he also have his three buddies who are ragging him because he has distance himself from them. Does he continue to pursue being a major DJ or will he please his friends, these are the decisions that Cole is faced with.

Reel talk;

Having come up as a party promoter and working with some of the city's hottest DJs, I know that it is true that a promoter's job is to get people in the place but it is the DJ that controls the party. A DJ will make or break the function. So I did enjoy this movie because of the premise of Efron portraying a DJ on the party scene. This is not a great movie and surely not a bad one, but just entertaining enough with the music and party segments to keep you interested. The cast is good for screen appeal but not very engaging to hold you, again if not for the music....Zzzzzzzz!!! LOL... This is one that you will enjoy if you are into techno and house music but I would probably say catch it at a matinee.

I give it 2 and a half eaten corn dogs.
