THE GIFT

Plot:

Simon (Bateman) and Robyn (Hall) are a loving couple that move to California for him to possibly secure a high profile job for a company run by billionaire twins. While out shopping the two encounter an old school mate of Simon's, named Gordo (Edgerton). Then strangely the pair begins receiving gifts at their home from Gordo and he starts just popping in on Robyn randomly causing Simon to believe something is weird about his character. Eventually the threesome is caught up in trying to find out secrets on each other that will only shockingly surprise each of them. Some of these secrets take the two men back to rehash a horrifying incident that happened back when they were kids in school leaving one of them scarred and ready to enact some revenge.

Reel Talk:

This movie is quite deceiving. You will go in based off the trailer thinking one thing but will be gifted wrap with a whole different twist. The movie takes all kinds of turns that while you are believing this is about to happen something else jumps off. Joel Edgerton who portrays Gordo also serves as director and did a pretty decent job. A very interesting plot and somewhat entertaining film and even though this movie could have been shown on the Lifetime cable channel it is still worth checking out in the theaters at a matinee.
