EVERYTHING, EVERYTHING

Plot:

Maddy Whittier (Stenberg) is a teenager with a rare disease to which she must remain germ free, preventing her from going outside or having any unauthorized human contact other than her mother and her nurse. Her condition is so severe that she resides in a custom made germ free house designed by her doctor mother Pauline (Rose) who is overly protected of her only child. But when a young interesting Olly Bright (Robinson) and his family move next door, the romance chemistry is automatic for the two teens even though they have not formally connected. Things will soon take a risky turn when Maddy for the sake of being with Olly will risk her health by stepping outside the house and setting out for the adventure of their lives. This does not set well with her mother who is worried that her daughter has jeopardized her health and life for young love.

Reel Talk:

Plain and simple, this is just another young and dumb teen love story. That's right, a movie that will appeal to the young teen audience, mainly young girls. I use the phrase dumb because there are so many dumb decisions made, that I really just lost count. And the acting was some what stiff from the cast which made some of the scenes boring. But again it will make for a good movie for young teen girls in need of a little romantic hope.  would have been a great Lifetime movie.

Starring: Anika Noni Rose, Amandla Stenberg, Nick Robinson, Ana De La Reguera, Taylor Hicks and Danube Hermosillo
Directed by: Stella Meghie
Rated: PG-13

ALIEN: COVENANT

Plot:

While en route on a search for a home planet to colonize humanity the space vessel Covenant being helmed by Walter (Fassbender) a robotic android designed to watch over the ship while the human crew rest in cryosleep chambers, is hit by a magnetic storm that damages the ship. Having to save the ship Walter awakens the crew  but the captain dies when they are unable to get out of his fiery sleep chamber. Covenant now under Captain Oram (Crudup) who is fighting for the respect of the crew, decides to take them to an uncharted planet that may be ripe for a colony start up when they receive a strange signal from it. Upon landing on the planet some of the crew members become infected and their bodies host a deadly alien seeking to prey on the remaining members. Under attack and about to become infected they are soon saved by David (Fassbender) an android stranded on the planet from a previous vessel. But it is not long before the crew realizes that there is more to David's connection to the impregnating aliens and their being summoned to the planet that will lead to dire consequences for the Covenant's colony.

Reel Talk:

This is the follow up to the 2012 film Prometheus to which Michael Fassbender reprises his role as the android David from. Sequels are tough and this is one of those sequels (although the sixth in the Alien series,,,lol) that does not live up to its prequel. It actually displays how writers will just throw anything together for the sack of making a movie. This film is all over the place with too many loose ends that just do not connect. Even with the great Ridley Scott as the director who directed Prometheus and one of the other Alien films, it just did not cut it. Not the best way to reintroduce the Alien brand to a new audience. Spend your bucks at your own risk for this one.

Starring: Michael Fassbender, Katherine Waterson, Billy Crudup, Danny Mcbride, Carmen Ejogo, Jussie Smollett and Demian

HENNESSY EVENT

THAT YAC THAT WILL BREAK YOUR BACK!!!
I got an invite yesterday to come out and shoot an event for a friend of mine that is a representative of Hennessy, who along with her colleagues had visiting from France, Fabien Levieux, Hennessy Maison Ambassador. First we stopped by DUO Nightclub so that he could do a presentation for the bar staff there on the various cognac brands of Hennessy. Then we went to the restaurant 220 Merrill in Birmingham for a small intimate private dinner hosted by Hennessy for Fabien Levieux to get the selected invited guest acquainted to Hennessy X.O, Hennessy Paradis and Hennessy Paradis Imperial (a bottle that retails at $3100.00). Now your boy don't drink but I was almost tempted to see what a sip of $3100.00 cognac tasted like...LOL! Never mind the drinks though, the food was sooooooo delicious that I wanted to smack somebody's mama. Had an awesome evening hanging with the Hennessy crew.

GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 2

Plot:

Upon completing a mission to secure batteries for a powerful planet under the rule of the condescending Ayesha (Debicki), the Guardians of the Galaxy, Peter Quill aka Star Lord (Pratt), Gamora (Saldana), Drax (Bautista), Rocket ( voiced by Cooper) and Baby Groot (voiced by Diesel) retrieve their payment which is an imprisoned Nebula (Gillan). After departing the planet they soon become under attack by Ayesha's aerial army only to realize that Rocket stole some of the batteries that they were to have returned. Forced to crash land on a planet that they had to hyper jump through a portal to attain to avoid the air strike, they encounter a strange man named Ego (Russell) who proclaims to be Peter's father. He then invites Peter to his planet and then wants him to become a part of his world literally. But it will soon be revealed that his intentions are not in the best interest of his son's but rather his own selfish reasons that include the demise of Peter's friends. This will then lead the Guardians to fight for their lives against Ego and his entire living planet.

Reel Talk:

I always say that it is rare that sequels live up to the standards of the original movie. Well this is another one of the rare films that actually lives up to the challenge. It is action packed, with great special effects and guaranteed to have you laughing. Of course Rocket the gun totting raccoon (voiced by Bradley Cooper) steals the show with his sarcastic sense of humor. You will also have no choice but to adore Baby Groot (voiced by Vin Diesel) as he dances his way into your heart. This is a fun movie, filled with action packed energy from beginning to the end. Worth every dollar for a family fun movie.

Pom Klementieff, Sylvester Stallone and Elizabeth Debicki
