HERCULES

Plot:

Hercules (Johnson) the alleged Greek demigod son of Zeus and his fellow group of mercenaries, including his nephew who is the spokesman to boastfully enhance his legend are summoned to aid a kingdom threatened by a power lusting Centurion. Upon helping to secure the village he realizes that there is more to the story than what he was led to believe and eventually his strength and mortality is severely tested.

Reel Talk:

I will be honest and say that the trailer was misleading on this film because I thought this would be another bad choice of movies for Dwayne Johnson but I was wrong, this was actually a better movie than anticipated. A good story, good acting and some good directing on the part of Brett Ratner. All around a good movie worth checking out, fellas just keep a hold of your woman so see won't be trying to jump at the screen....LOL!

Starring: Dwayne Johnson, Ian McShane, John Hurt, Rufus Sewell, Ingrid Bolson Berdal, Reece Ritchie and Rebecca Ferguson
Directed by: Brett Ratner
Rated: PG-13

I give it 3 and a half eaten corn dogs.

THE PURGE: ANARCHY

Plot:

It's the annual holiday for the Purge, where anything from rape to murder is allowed within a 24 hour period. During this time of purging a woman and her daughter are saved reluctantly by a mysterious man who is armed to the max and driving an armored car. After saving them he realizes that he has gained two more passengers in a man and his wife whose car stopped due to being tampered with by a group of masked delinquents who has targeted them for the purge. When his car becomes damaged the group must set out on foot to seek shelter and safety while trying to survive the hunger of the hunt from those that are trying to kill them within the purging period.

Reel Talk:

I did not see the first movie The Purge that came out last year, so I cannot compare between the two, but this one here was some straight bull crap. It was just too many unrealistic happenings that had me saying "C'mon Really????". You just got characters walking around with a lackluster attitude, working and shopping like its nothing on a day that you should be preparing to secure your safety. Then you got the Rambo stunt of one man taking out gangs of heavily armed men in an enclosed area. Oh and how about the woman who falls while being chased by a group of flame throwing murderers and just can't seem to get up but the next scene she's walking just fine. If you're a blood and guts, shoot em up bang, bang then you may like this. but I'm sorry the only thing that's scary about this movie is that this can actually happen. If you just want to go to the movies and give some money away that is what you will be doing with this film.

Starring: Frank Grillo, Carmen Ejogo, Zach Gilford, Kiele Sanchez, Zoe Soul, John Beasley and Jack Conley
Directed by: James DeMonaco
Rated: R
