THE RETURN OF THE LEGENDS PT 1 & 2 AT CHENE PARK

IT'S A WRAP FOR SUMMER OF 2018!
You know the summer is pretty much over when the Chene Park Amphitheater host their annual Return Of The Legends concert series. This year the two day concert which opened Saturday September 1st started off with some local artists, then Lil Boosie, Webbie, and Juicy J. Then closing out was T.I. who ended up rocking the near capacity theater with all his classic jams.
On September 2nd the follow up and close out concert for the summer of concerts at the Chene Park theater was opened by Next, then 112 and Jagged Edge who would end their set together. Then to close the summer out would be Joe who almost did not make it because upon his arrival to the city he caught an allergic reaction and was rushed to the hospital from the airport. Despite the doctors orders to not perform, he said his love for Detroit because of all the love the city had shown him, he would not cancel. So he took to the stage and still sang all his classic love songs that made him be considered an R&B legend. THE REEL HUSTLER was in the place handicapped and all for both days to capture a few flicks.

THE ROOTS WSG ROYCE DA 59 AT CHENE PARK

ROUND II ON THE RIVERFRONT!
After another fun couple of hours on my Friday afternoon radio/cable show I shot down to my second night at Chene Park for the make up concert for The Roots who had to postpone an earlier dated show. So I met up with one of my guest co-host Antisia King to catch the show which started out with a performance by the brother of the follow up artist and main opener Royce Da 59. When Royce hit the stage the crowd went wild for the hometown rapper who blazed them with his classic jams.
After a brief intermission, to cool down the sold out venue, the featured group The Roots took to the stage and more than made up for keeping there fans waiting to see them for almost another month from their previous scheduled date. They were worth the wait as they slammed the audience with hit after hit from songs from their extensive catalog. They are still without any doubt one of the best live performing bands out there doing what they do with rap and play instruments. It was a good follow up from the Aretha Franklin tribute from the Chene Park outdoor theater.

Well it was yet another hot party for your manz THE REEL HUSTLER for the Friday After Work Party In The Studio. Got to give some thanks to my guest the smooth saxophonist Yancyy who stopped in for a bit before heading out to rehearse for his performance at the Detroit International Jazz Festival. Then I got to give a big thank you to my friend and former high school classmate, now a master golf professional, Lindsey L. A PEOPLE'S TRIBUTE TO THE QUEEN AT CHENE PARK

FOR THE LOVE OF THE QUEEN!
With people still wanting to pay their "R.E.S.P.E.C.T" to the recently deceased Queen of Soul Ms. Aretha Franklin and her family even after three days of public viewings at the Charles H. Wright Museum Of African American History. Those who were fortunate enough to have acquired tickets to the fast and easily sold out tribute concert at the Chene Park Amphitheater would be able to still come and honor Aretha for one last time along with a host of her family and close friends. The concert event was almost like being at the Grammy's or similar award show because it was so many celebrities that were there to pay homage to the queen. You name them and they were pretty much there, from Tyler Perry and cast members from his hit show "The Haves And The Have Nots" (one of her favorite shows), Bobby Jones, Louis Farrakan, Regina Bell, Angie Stone, Ray Parker Jr., Raheem Davaughn, Johnny Gill, Gordon Chambers, Keith Washington, Erica Peoples and many, many more.
The event was a spectacular affair that was hosted by The Right Productions with full support from the people of the city of Detroit. But it was adorned with beautiful people that came from all over along with news coverage from around the world. The queen got one last shine in the national spotlight.
THE REEL HUSTLER along with her many other fans, while truly sadden by her passing enjoyed the tribute performances that were filled with joy and positive energy that had everyone feeling good. She will be certainly missed but her legacy will live on through her timeless and priceless music!
