Professor Charles Xavier (McAvoy) is known for taking in young teenager mutants at his university for the gifted helping them to cope and adjust to their misunderstood super powers, protecting them from harm or from harming those who are threatened by their mutant abilities. But the world will soon encounter Apocalypse (Issac), an ancient mutant with superior powers who has been raised from the cemented ruins in Egypt. While harvesting powering Apocalypse also begins assembling his own army of mutants with Erik AKA Magneto (Fassbender) who is still bitter at humans for the murder of his wife and daughter, as his primary weapon. Professor Xavier who will then be abducted by the rogue super mutant as the final piece to solidify his quest for total world power over all mankind must rely on Raven AKA Mystique (Lawrence) and some of the other top students of the X University who gear up to battle against the rival mutants.

Reel Talk:

OK...right off the rip, this movie was meaninglessly long. It is about two hours and sixteen minutes long but about a hour of that could have easily hit the cutting room floor. I understand you have to have a story that leads up to a purpose but unfortunately people don't go to see super hero films for a long story but rather for their action. Movies like The Avengers and Captain America: Civil War have set the bar extremely high when it comes to films with good action flow. Now once the action does start taking place in the X-Men movie it is intense and worthy the long wait. My other gripe is that they keep doing period pieces with the X-Men series, when they are old, then young, what's next when they are pre-schooled??? Well anyway if you are a die hard X fan you will probably feel that this is the greatest movie ever but at best it is a good hour's worth of action packed entertainment. You would do best catching this one at the matinee.
