AFTER EARTH

Plot:

Returning home from active duty to the space colony Nova Prime, legendary General Cypher Raige (Smith) looks forward to seeing his beautiful wife Faia (Okonedo) who strongly encourages him to spend time with his estranged teen son Kitai (Smith) whose only wish is to prove his fearless worthiness to his dad by becoming a space ranger. Cypher invites his son to come along with him on his next mission but while in flight their ship encounters a meteor storm that damages the vessel causing them to crash land on Earth which has not been inhabited with human life in more than 1,000 years due to the catastrophic effects caused by mankind. Being the only two survivors from the crash and with his dad badly injured, Kitai must set out on a journey across Earth's dangerous terrain to retrieve a beacon from the crafts broken off tail so that they may have a chance to be rescued, giving him his only shot to show his dad what he is made of.

Reel Talk:

It was 2006 that Will and his son Jaden starred together in The Pursuit Of Happyness and the chemistry was powerful. Well After Earth  keeps their chemistry strong as Jaden portrays a teen trying to prove himself to his dad played by Will. You can just feel the compatibility between them as if they are literally at home. This is a great movie with a great story which happens to be by Will Smith and this film is well worth checking out. I just hope this father/son team continue making films together because they have a good formula.
