FAME IN THE D!
On a beautiful Sunday afternoon, your city wide entertainment news correspondent, THE REEL HUSTLER made his way over to Marygrove College that is located in Detroit at 8425 W. McNichols. Upon arriving on the scene and entering the building, you could not help but notice the long line of young children and teens that were there to audition for a summer dance academy. This is not just some small time dance academy, it is the Carr Center's Summer Dance Intensive in conjunction with the Debbie Allen Dance Academy (DADA).On hand for the auditions was Debbie Allen herself. Debbie Allen who is an accomplished dancer, choreographer and teacher, who also branched off into acting and directing is widely known for for her early career as a dancer. So sticking close to her roots she came to Detroit to pick from among some of the city's most talented dancers to see who will advance on to join the summer dance academy program which is headed up by The Carr Center President Oliver Ragsdale, Jr. and Debbie Allen's DADA instructors. It was a joy and a treat for THE REEL HUSTLER to be on deck to see Debbie Allen give on hand instructions to some of the promising dance talent.
