WHISKEY TANGO FOXTROT

Plot:

Looking to further her journalistic creativity, Kim Baker (Fey) heads to the war zoned areas of Afghanistan and Pakistan and dives into the competitive world of being a news correspondent. Baker along with her friend fellow journalist Tanya Vanderpoel (Robbie), amidst the devastation and death from the havoc of the war rely on the nightly hard and  heavy drinking parties and sexcapades to help take their minds off the realization of life on the front line. While on assignments Baker works in conjunction with the hard charging General Hollaner (Thornton) who already has his hands full with the war but now he must babysit the hard headed reporter in order to keep her alive and safe.

Reel Talk:

This film is based on the recollections of the 2002 war experiences of actual reporter Kim Barker. Her portrayal by Tina Fey brings to the screen charm and humor (which I have no idea if the real Kim is like that), but with Fey being one of the hot actresses right now you can't do too much wrong. Although she brings some humor she doesn't cut loose because this is a drama film, which at times the movie gets confusing whether it is a drama or a comedy. Pretty much all the characters get their turn at lending in a humorous scene here or there. So I guess it just shows the lighter side of what was happening during Kim's tour of the Afghanistan and Pakistan war. The trailer can be deceiving for this film, because with Tina Fey and most the scenes they show are some of the movies' funniest you will think it is a comedy, but not the case. If you are just a die hard Tina Fey, Margot Robbie or Billy Bob Thornton fan then you can justify rushing to see this film but otherwise you can wait for this one to hit cable.
