MILES AHEAD
Plot:
Looking to have a break out story, Rolling Stone journalist Dave Brill (McGregor) tries to secure an interview with the reclusive, drug addicted genius musician Miles Davis (Cheadle). Reluctant at first Miles then decides to grant the resilient reporter the interview regarding his musical career, tumultuous marriage to his wife Frances (Corinealdi), drug use and more but he would have to chauffeur the jazz great around to purchase his drugs, a meeting with the record label and help him get back some stolen recordings of his latest work from a ruthless mobster. This will turn out to be a dangerous roller coaster ride that he will never forget.
Reel Talk:
Let me start by saying that Don Cheadle is one heck of an actor who has been a superb actor at most of the roles he has portrayed but I was worried about him taking on the role of Miles Davis on this film which he also took on the duty as director. Well I can say that I needed not to worry because he does a masterful job as the late great trumpeter. There are even moments when you sort of felt as if you were actually watching Miles Davis on the screen. This was definitely a great movie, my only gripe would be that it limited the story around his relationship to his first wife when it could have been stretched to cover more regarding his life and career. But again this was a great movie definitely one that you should cash out to see.
