PIXELS

Plot:

Back during the the era when video game arcades with games like Pac Man, Centipede, Space Invaders, etc... were the popular thing, there was one kid who was considered the best up until while competing in a video games tournament he loses to a midget named Fire Blaster (Dinklage) while playing Donkey Kong. Well all grown now Brenner (Sandler)the former video whiz kid is a gadget installer for a company called Nerds and while on a job he meets the recently divorced Violet (Monaghan) who he calls a snob because she looks down on his career choice. That changes when he gets summoned to the White House by his childhood best friend Cooper (James) who is now the President of the United States because of some attacks through out the world that strangely resemble some patterns related to some of the video games they played as kids. They are soon reunited with their former outcast-ed friend Ludlow (Gad) who informs them that when they performed in the video tournament as kids the video games they played were put in a capsule and launched into space and had been retrieved by aliens who mistook the games as a challenge for world domination of the winner of the games. Now they must come together and utilize all their gaming skills and other resources to compete in the tournament to save Earth from being over taken by the alien pixels.

Reel Talk:

I really enjoyed this movie, it was a lot of fun and kinda took me down memory lane since I was around during the video game fad era. It was refreshingly funny with the all star cast of Sandler, Monaghan, James, Gad, Dinklage and a host of celebrity cameos. Now it is not a great movie because it has some of Sandler's typical humor but it is not over the top, it is tolerable. This movie is one of the most fun and enjoyable movies that I have seen this year. Uh If you are around my age (LOL) and want to take an nostalgic trip down video lane or if you are someone who just want to see a fun film, this is definitely one to go see. Worth going in your pocket to check it out.

I give it 3 and a half eaten corn dogs.
