CHAPPIE

Plot:

Trying to control the crime situation without using actual policemen, a young scientist, Deon Wilson (Patel) heads a program that enlist patrolling and combative robots. The program is a success up until his jealous co-worker Vincent Moore (Jackman) sabotages his robots causing them to shut down, all but one named Chappie (Copley) who is is recruited by a gang of thugs and taken on a crime spree. This is just what Vincent needed to get the authorization to unleash his own robot of destruction to wage a war on crime.

Reel Talk:

Crappie...Oops I mean Chappie is brought to you by the same people that made the 2009 film District 9, which you can pretty much see the same low budget tone in this movie as in that one. The trailer is a little misleading because it kinds of makes you believe that it is along the same  line as Steve Guttenbergs' movie Short Circuit but this is no way close, it is too violent a movie for children. And to think that Hugh Jackman and Sigourney Weaver subjected themselves to this but hey as I always say "A check is a check" and the celebrities today have to take care of their families. Oh well, you can catch this one on cable when it comes on...save your money!

Starring: Sharlto Copley, Dev Patel, Hugh jackman and Sigourney Weaver
Directed by: Neill Blomkamp
Rated: R

I give it 2 corn dogs.
