"WILSON" CAST SELECTED
CRAIG JOHNSON DIRECTS “WILSON” STARRING WOODY HARRELSON,
LAURA DERN, JUDY GREER, AND CHERYL HINES
FOR FOX SEARCHLIGHT PICTURES
Fox Searchlight Pictures President of
Production Claudia Lewis announced today that a new production has begun
principal photography in
Minnesota. Craig Johnson (THE SKELETON TWINS) directs WILSON, starring
Oscar nominee Woody Harrelson (“True Detective,” THE HUNGER
GAMES), Oscar Nominee Laura Dern (WILD, “Enlightened”), Judy Greer (THE
DESCENDANTS, JURASSIC WORLD), and
Cheryl Hines (“Curb Your Enthusiasm,” “Suburgatory”). The screenplay
is by Oscar nominee Daniel Clowes (GHOST WORLD) based on his graphic
novel of the same name. Mary Jane Skalski and Jared Ian Goldman are
producing. The film is shooting on location in
the St. Paul area.
“I've
been a fan of Dan Clowes' cartoons and writing for years,” says Johnson.
“I own all of his comic books and graphic novels, including Wilson, so
when I got the script,
I couldn't quite believe it. It's a privilege to be working on a
project of this pedigree -- a project written by Dan Clowes, starring
Woody Harrelson and Laura Dern and brought to life by Fox Searchlight.
I'm honored to be part of it.”
"Dan
Clowes' script embraces elements that are funny, touching, charming and
sweet. This film has everything, including Craig who is one of the most
precise and smart
directors around. It will be a joy to bring Wilson to the big screen,"
said producers Skalski and Goldman.
"Woody
Harrelson as “Wilson" is casting nirvana, and we are thrilled to be
working again with Laura Dern, Judy Greer and Cheryl Hines. We're
especially excited about
the pairing of Craig Johnson's cinematic style with Dan Clowes’ sharp
and distinctive voice,” said Lewis.
Harrelson
stars as Wilson, a lonely, neurotic and hilariously honest middle-aged
misanthrope who reunites with his estranged wife (Laura Dern) and gets a
shot at happiness
when he learns he has a teenage daughter (Isabelle Amara) he has never
met. In his uniquely outrageous and slightly twisted way, he sets out
to connect with her.
Fox
Searchlight Pictures Senior Vice President of Production David
Greenbaum and Director of Production Richard Gold are overseeing the
project.

ME AND EARL AND THE DYING GIRL
Plot:
His senior year in high school, a normally neutrally recluse Greg (Mann) just wants to finish strong and prepare for college. To pass his time he along with his only friend that he calls his co-worker Earl (Cyler) like to remake and re-title classical old films with their quirky and geeky touch. Learning that a fellow student Rachel (Cooke) has been diagnosed with cancer he is forced to visit her by his mother. While on his reluctant visit he realizes that she is a cool person and it is not long before they become friends causing him and Earl to work on a film project that will document her journey while dealing with the terminally ill disease.
Reel Talk:
I am a sentimentalist when it comes to these types of movies regarding people with any type of cancer, having lost my mother to lung cancer. Even though this is a low budgeted movie it has a big message regarding the disease and friendship and how it is truly difficult for everyone involved to deal and cope with the fact that someone you care about is on the verge of dying and the effect that it has on them. This movie is another example that you should give a person their flowers while they are alive instead of when they die. Very good movie that I highly recommend you check it out and support it.
Starring: Thomas Mann, RJ Cyler, Olivia Cooke, Nick Offerman, Connie Britton, Molly Shannon and Jon Bernthal
Directed by: Alfonso Gomez-Rejon
Rated: PG-13

TED 2
Plot:
With John (Wahlberg) coming off a divorce, his alive and hard partying teddy bear Ted (voiced by MacFarlane) marries his true love Tami-Lynn (Barth). Wanting to make their life complete the married couple wants a child but due to various complications they can't have their own so they turn to adopting but that also hits a brick wall and also throws a red flag up regarding whether Ted is a person or deemed property. If considered property he would lose out on his citizenship, so he and John engage in a legal battle with the aid of a young upcoming attorney named Samantha (Seyfried) to fight for his rights as an equal rights civilian because if he should lose his case, the demented kidnapper from his past Donny (Ribisi) is looking to again nab the bear for pending life altering experiments with a major toy manufacturer.
Reel Talk:
It was 3 years ago that we were introduce to the fouled mouthed, drug using, hard partying Ted along with his "thunder buddy for life" John Bennett. Well the two are back with more of their hard partying, drug using and sex laden humor so buckle up for the ride. If you enjoyed the first one, you will not be disappointed with this one as they pretty much pick right up where they left off with the high octane raunchiness that had us rolling over with laughter before. Seth McFarlane has definitely found his niche with Ted and can pretty much milk this until he gets tired of it, because as raw and uncensored as Ted can be you just still have to adore this little teddy bear. A for sure must see for die hard Ted fans and anyone in need of some solid laughs from some adult humor. Reminder warning = Just because this is a teddy bear, this is not a kid friendly movie.
Starring: Mark Wahlberg, Seth MacFarlane, Amanda Seyfried, Jessica Barth, Giovanni Ribisi and Morgan Freeman

CHENE PARK SUMMER CONCERT SERIES
DAWN OF THE DIVAS
It was February 9, 1964 that we were invaded by a group from another country "The Beatles" when they performed on the Ed Sullivan Show. Well on the evening of June 20, 2015 we were invaded again at the Chene Park Amphitheatre by the female groups Floetry from London, England and Les Nubians from Paris, France along with singer Estelle from London, England. On another evening that was threatening possible storms but they ended up passing us by, these ladies put on quite a show. The sisters known as Les Nubians took to the stage first performing their tribal, neo soul music that has kept them going since coming on the scene in 1998. Then they were followed by the lone songstress Estelle who swooned us with her slow jams then had the place rocking with her hit singles American Boy and Something Good. Closing out the night were the dynamic duo of Floetry (Natalie Stewart and Marsha Ambrosius) who had separated to do solo work but have reunited to do tours after nine years apart and it was as if they had never missed a beat without each other. They put it down with their floetic, poetic grooves. On what turned out to be a beautiful evening you can never go wrong hearing the sweet sound of some soulful sister at the wonderful backdrop of this outdoor theater. The Reel Hustler strongly encourages you go to the website and check the listing for some of the other exciting shows that are coming up at Chene Park celebrating their 30 Year Anniversary. Take advantage of these summer concerts at this outdoor city venue...you won't be disappointed!

DOPE
Plot:
It is his senior year and Malcolm (Moore) who walks around like a 90's rap star, along with his fellow geeky pals Jib (Revolori) and Diggy (Clemons) just want to survive through it, have some fun and go to college. Routinely chased and mistreated he is given the chance of his life to party with his fantasy girl Nakia (Kravitz) when they are invited to a big birthday bash for a local drug dealer. When the party gets raided and the dealer busted, Malcolm soon realizes that his backpack is stuffed with stashed drugs from the event. With gun totting thugs after him and the police trying to find the drugs he and his friends must find a way to get rid of the contraband without getting caught, risking their lives and their freedom in the process.
Reel Talk:
DOPE is one of those movies that you walk into the screening with a big question mark not knowing what to expect but walk out feeling good that you saw it. This coming of age comedy is actually a good movie with a good solid cast of both rookie and veteran actors and actresses that put in some good performances. This was a very funny movie but one of the things that really made this a good movie to me is the nostalgic 90's soundtrack that had my head bobbing the entire film from all the jams from yesteryear. My only downside of this movie is the drug overtone, as if the kids today need another film about drugs and ways to distribute them. Still a good movie well worth checking out if just for the talent and the laughs.
Starring: Shameik Moore, Tony Revolori, Kiersey Clemons, Zoe Kravitz, Rakim "ASAP Rocky" Mayers, Quincy Brown, Chanel Iman and Roger Guenveur Smith

JANE ZHANG & BIG SEAN RECORD SONG FOR "TERMINATOR GENISYS"
CHINESE
POP STAR JANE ZHANG AND G.O.O.D. MUSIC / DEF JAM RECORDINGS ARTIST BIG
SEAN RECORD ORIGINAL SONG FOR “TERMINATOR GENISYS”
Chinese pop star Jane Zhang and American hip hop
artist Big Sean (G.O.O.D. Music / Def Jam Recordings) are collaborating
on the original song “Fighting Shadows” for Paramount Pictures
and Skydance Productions’ highly anticipated film “TERMINATOR GENISYS,”
which opens in theaters in the United States on the 1st of July.
The
partnership represents the first time that Zhang has recorded a song for
an English-language film and marks Big Sean’s musical debut for a
feature film.
“Fighting
Shadows” will be released digitally in Asia by Sony and the rest of the
world by Def Jam Recordings. It is available to download at iTunes
beginning June 30th.
“Contributing to the ‘Terminator
Genisys’ movie and inviting Big Sean to collaborate was a very special
opportunity for me,” said Zhang. “I am really looking forward to the
moment when people get to hear this song.”
Zhang will be featured on CCTV 6’s “Talking to Hollywood with Betty Zhou” this Friday, June 19th
at approx. 5:30 p.m. and on future episodes. Fans can receive more
information about Zhang and “TERMINATOR GENISYS” by following
Betty Zhou’s official Weibo page http://weibo.com/bettyzhoulingan or @Betty周玲安.
“I have been a huge fan of Arnold and
the ‘Terminator’ movies since I was a kid, so it’s especially exciting
to be a part of the new film,” said Big Sean. “Working with Jane has
been an amazing experience and I can’t wait for audiences
around the world to hear her song.”
Zhang
is a Chinese pop singer who came to prominence after her performance in
the 2005 season of the Super Girl contest, a national all-female
singing competition in China.
Zhang's
debut album, “The One,” was produced by Craig Williams. Her next album,
“Update,” broke away from the Chinese pop scene by combining elements
of R&B and jazz. After its release, Zhang participated in a
World Peace One concert with such artists as U2, Madonna, Pink Floyd
and Green Day to increase awareness and activism for world peace and to
raise funds for humanitarian relief. She made her American television
debut on The Oprah Winfrey Show with the release
of her third album, “Jane@Music.”
“Believe
in Jane,” Zhang's fourth album, was released in 2010. Following its
popularity, she performed at the first New York China Film Festival,
where she was awarded most popular Chinese singer, and further
represented
China in the 7th Asia Song Festival held in Korea. She has
recorded two songs for the Chinese film “EMPRESS OF CHINA” and was
selected to record “Fighting Shadows” for “TERMINATOR GENISYS” due to
her unique vocal range and talent.
American
hip hop artist Big Sean has earned worldwide attention since the
release of his debut album “Finally Famous” in 2011. As his first major
label effort, the album made an impressive #3 Soundscan debut in
the U.S., solidifying a joint venture by Kanye West’s G.O.O.D. Music
with Island Def Jam Music Recordings.
With
more than 10 million records sold to-date, Sean was the first rapper to
ever perform at the White House and has released two successful shoe
designs in partnerships with Adidas Originals. While his professional
work as an artist keeps him extremely busy, Sean makes the time to use
his resources to give back through his Detroit-based non-profit, the
Sean Anderson Foundation.
He is currently on a worldwide tour promoting his third major label album, “Dark Sky Paradise,” which debuted at #1.

JURASSIC WORLD
Plot:
It had been 22 years since the demise of Jurassic Park. Under a new vision and management it opened as Jurassic World but with poor attendance partly because the lack of any real choice of excitement within the park, the new owner along with a scientific team brew up a super charged hybrid dinosaur with hopes of changing that. While on vacation to visit their aunt Claire (Dallas-Howard) who is with the park's management team, Zach (Robinson) and his younger brother Gray (Simpkins) get detoured on the compound after the new genetic monster escapes and is headed straight for the populated theme park to hunt anything moving. Claire realizing the boys' and the parks only hope is to recruit a dinosaur specialist named Owen (Pratt), she enlists his assistance while trying to ward off the attempted takeover from Hoskins (D'Onofrio) who wants to utilize the creature as a military weapon.
Reel Talk:
WOW!!! It has been 22 long years since we first became awed on the screen with the long lost dinosaurs. Well just like we were amused with the previous Jurassic movies, you will be thrilled with this one. This time around it is presented to us in 3D so you are up close with the prehistoric creatures, claws and teeth. The visuals effects are just as good and because of 3D maybe a touch better than the others, but lest not forget the others are classics. Chris Pratt is cool as the new hero of the day and is steadily making a niche for himself as a true action star of the big screen. Good family movie that will definitely give you your money's worth.

CHENE PARK'S WEDNESDAY JAZZY NIGHTS
ONE JAZZY NIGHT!!!
I can not tell you how long it has been since I had been down to the Chene Park Amphitheatre for one of their jazzy nights' concerts. The Reel Hustler along with a nearly sold out theater of concert goers risk coming out on an evening that was threatening thunderstorms but actually ended up with beautiful weather and a wonderful show with the performances of saxophonist / flautist Najee, pianist Alex Bugnon and the songstress Meli'sa Morgan. The show was awesome as the trio performed together for a jazzy jam session that had the audience grooving the entire night. I was also impressed how less congestive the traffic situation was compared to when I had been there before, making it easier to get in and out of the parking facilities. This was one of the shows for the theater's Jazzy Nights Series - Every Wednesday at 7:30PM commemorating the 30th Anniversary for the Chene Park Amphitheatre. If you have never been to a show at this outdoor theater, I strongly suggest that you do because you are missing out on a wonderful experience. The off the water ambiance along with the performances of some of today's hottest acts as well as some stage legends on a beautiful evening is an encounter on another level. COMING SOON: STRAIGHT OUTTA COMPTOHN
STRAIGHT OUTTA COMPTON – In Theaters August 14
In
1987, five young men, using brutally honest rhymes and hardcore beats,
put their frustration and
anger about life in the most dangerous place in America into the most
powerful weapon they had: their music. Taking us back to where it all

bravado and raw talent—stood up to the authorities that meant to keep
them down and formed the world’s most dangerous group, N.W.A. And as
they spoke the truth that no one had before and exposed life in the
hood, their voice ignited a social revolution that
is still reverberating today.

"MISSION IMPOSSIBLE - ROGUE NATION" NEW POSTERS
MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE - ROGUE NATION
In Theaters July 31, 2015
SPY
Plot:
Bradley Fine (Law) is a super spy who takes on some of the most dangerous missions but he would not be able to do these missions efficiently if it were not for the voice in his ear, his desk clerk specialist Susan Cooper (McCarthy), who adores him but is completely underrated and totally taken advantage of by him. While on assignment to locate a hidden nuclear bomb, Fine's identity is exposed along with all his colleagues at the agency by the beautiful but ruthless killer Rayna Boyanov (Byrne). Unable to send in any agents without them being recognized, they reluctantly send in Susan Cooper who volunteers to take revenge on the woman that murdered her dream man Agent Fine. Having never been in the field, Agent Cooper is at a disadvantage and is forcibly assisted by a hard nosed rogue agent named Rick Ford (Statham) who believes he is a one man army of destruction. So now the fate of the world falls on their shoulders.
Reel Talk:
This is one of those movies that the trailer doesn't do it much justice, meaning it sells it short on exactly how good it is. Yes, this is a good movie! Melissa McCarthy was hilarious and surprisingly impressive as an action agent along with Jude Law and Jason Statham. Rose Byrne's performance as the cold hearted villain Rayna was so good that she sent chills up my back...LOL! Director Paul Feig, who seems to be building a franchise of comedy films with Melissa McCarthy (since they have collaborated on several movies), took it several steps up on this one than when he did "The HEAT" which starred McCarthy and Sandra Bullock and was not that amusing. SPY is a very good and entertaining movie, may not be kid friendly due to some suggestive scenes but still a good film. My only downside to this movie is that it may have been about 30 minutes too long, because you start wondering when is it going to end after about a hour and a half in. This is not a bad thing just noticeable, so this is definitely one to check out.
Starring: Melissa McCarthy, Jude Law, Jason Statham, Rose Byrne and Bobby Cannavale

I give it 4 corn dogs.
