MAGIC MIKE

Plot:

Adam (Pettyfer) a down on his luck young man sleeping on his sister’s couch, while working during the day at a construction site meets a hardworking and knowledgeable Mike (Tatum) who at night is the main attraction at a male strip club ran and owned by male pimper Dallas (McConaughey). Magic Mike as he is known at the club brings the young Adam into the inner sanctum of the fold along with his other exotic dancing cohorts to groom and prepare the teen for the life of a male stripper. It is not long before he is an instant sensation and begins raking in the fast cash, but along with the money comes the women and drugs which can spiral out of control at any given moment, putting Mike in the middle of their occupation as dancers and having to deal with Adam’s overly protected sister.

Reel Talk:

Ok the ladies will probably rush out in packs for this film because of the bevy of beefcake that will be on the screen but don’t get your hopes up too high. The movie loosely based on Tatum’s own experiences as a male dancer before becoming an actor is a weak attempt at exploring the exotic nightlife. It starts out with a strong presence but fizzles rather fast with a story that has no real direction. Everything just becomes erratic and confusing. Olivia Munn as Adam’s sister is just utterly annoying through out the entire movie as she just completely over acts her role. Once again women enjoy the man candy because that’s all there is to enjoy about this movie.
