RUSSELL WOODS-SULLIVAN HISTORIC DISTRICT FREE MUSIC FESTIVAL

JAZZY SUNDAY!

Now there should have been no doubt whether THE REEL HUSTLER was gonna drop in on the Russell Woods-Sullivan Historic District Free Family Music Festival held on Sunday in my old neighborhood, that was promoted on my Friday show by President/CEO Garland Hardeman along with good friends Rico Jenkins and Grover McCants. It was a beautiful day, being in a beautiful environment, around some beautiful people and listening to some beautiful live music. Oh what a day!

THE BEAT GOES ON!

After wrapping up my Friday radio show I rushed down to the west riverfront for the first day for the Charivari Detroit 2018 Music Festival hoping to try and catch my brother from another mother Kenny Mahone do his set, but I got there too late. Fortunately the DJ's that followed came and did their thang to get the outdoor party started. You know your manz THE REEL HUSTLER had to freeze a few moments in time.

THROWBACK SPARKLE - RED CARPET DETROIT - JORDIN SPARKS - ARETHA FRANKLIN - 2012

I like so many am sadden with the passing Thursday of Aretha Franklin. Having grown up practically listening to her songs my entire life it was a joy and a treat to have captured a brief interview with the Queen of Soul in 2012 while at the red carpet premier for the movie SPARKLE in Detroit. She is truly a musical legend that will dearly be missed but her legacy will live on through her music. R.I.P. Aretha Franklin the undisputed Queen of Soul!

KEM AT CHENE PARK FEATURING TAMAR BRAXTON

DOWN ON THE RIVER!

After finishing up my Friday afternoon show at WHPR, I headed down to the Chene Park Amphitheater for a beautiful evening with some beautiful music from some wonderful performers. The concert was Nissan Presents: An Evening With Kem featuring Tamar Braxton, that was on behalf of the NABJ (National Association of Black Journalists) delegates that were from here and visiting during their convention this week. It was a sold out theater that came to see first Tamar Braxton as she sang and danced across the stage. Then the singing sensation Kem took to the stage and put it down as he performed all the hits that has made him the superstar that he is today. It was a beautiful evening to enjoy such an awesome show.
