JASON BOURNE
Plot:
It has been some years since Jason Bourne (Damon) has been on the grid of the CIA's radar but when they get a signal regarding someone probing into his personal file, CIA Director Robert Dewey (Lee) along with an ambitious Intel agent Heather Lee (Vikander) sets out to draw the rogue agent back in to prevent him from divulging their dirty secrets. But what they did not count on was him to start his own investigation pertaining to the death of his father and to lead him to the responsible individual. When Agent Lee realizes that things aren't what they appeared to be she tries to assist Bourne believing that she can gain his trust so that he would come in at her request but the corrupt Director Dewey has other ideas in store for both Bourne and Lee that does not involve them getting away alive.
Reel Talk:
It has been over ten years since Matt Damon graced us with the character Jason Bourne who he had started a franchise series with in the 2002 hit Bourne Identity, that then followed up with two more Bourne movies before taking a break and allowing Jeremy Renner to replace him in the 2012 film The Bourne Legacy. Well he is back and seems as if he has not lost a beat, stepping right back in to whip some crooked CIA butts. This film is much like the others, pretty much the same plot but no matter how similar the action or story lines you still seem to enjoy these type of movies and best believe they are not done with the series just yet. Matt Damon Bourne fans and die hard action junkies will definitely get a rush seeing this film. Enjoyable and entertaining and worth cashing out at the theaters.
Starring: Matt Damon, Tommy Lee, Alicia Vikander, Vincent Cassel, Julia Stiles, Ato Essandoh and Scott Shepherd
Directed by: Paul Greengrass
Rated: PG-13

ERIC BENET AT CHENE PARK
ANOTHER WONDERFUL WEDNESDAY NIGHT AT THE PARK
After a long hot day in Detroit with the temperature reaching close to 90 degrees, I was looking for a way to just cool down and what better way than to hit up the Wednesday Night Concert Series at the Chene Park Amphitheater with the feature
artist being Eric Benet. Now I was really close to not going because the heat had me in a lazy state but at about the last minute I thought, hey it is a beautiful day and it started to cool off so off to the show I go and best believe I have no regrets.
I arrived to the venue about midway through the performance of the very beautiful local singer Charity who was the opening act on the bill. This young woman was not just a pretty face but a very talented singer as well who got the almost packed
audience worked up with her strong performance. She did so well that it even had Mr. Benet come out to get a peek of her singing.
Now after her segment and a brief intermission Eric Benet took to the stage, comfortably sporting some jeans, tee shirt, a blazer and a summer hat and he started crooning the crowd with the jams that especially the women are familiar to. It had
been awhile since I have seen him perform but the singer / song writer can still put on a great show. He actually has an energetic show to which he is all over the stage dancing with random fans, getting some of the gawking boaters to blow their horns, grabbing someone's camera and taking selfies and most of all singing. It was certainly a treat to be out enjoying this talented singer and his exciting show while taking in the awesome ambiance of the riverfront view from the outdoor pavilion that displays the serene Detroit river. Oh what a night!
It is not too late if you have not been to the Chene Park Amphitheater, powered by The Right Productions, to enjoy the outdoor concert experience because there are still a few Wednesday shows available and plenty of prime concerts on the weekend. Just click on the link below to check out the website for upcoming shows. Hey if you have not been to any of the shows, you have no idea what you are missing. Rain or shine they are prepared to continue with the concerts.

SHEILA E AT CHENE PARK
A GLAMOROUS FRIDAY NIGHT!
As the Chene Park Amphitheater, powered by The Right Productions, continues to be one of Detroit's prolific venues for concerts they provided yet another exciting show on Friday evening. This time on another beautifully warm weathered evening the outdoor pavilion that sits along the Detroit riverfront hosted Sheila E and Tower Of Power.
Now before the main acts, opening the show was a local band, Infatuation, that got the party started with their hard charged and high energy performance. They had the audience dancing to their mesh sounds of R&B with a Rock and Roll flare setting the crowd up for the main course. Now what I thought and probably most the patrons there might have thought was that Tower Of Power would take to the stage next but that was not the case as the still relevant musician and singer Sheila E took to the stage after a very short intermission. Now everyone knows Sheila E as the percussionist who was under the mentor-ship and also girlfriend to the late great Prince and she had just performed a very powerful tribute selection to Prince at the BET Awards. So could we expect it that night? Well yes indeed she came to lay it out as she initially started out with some of her songs, banging away on her drums and then she dived right into her tribute performance honoring The Purple One. This woman is still one of the baddest percussionist out their and she is shutting down any critics thinking that she is still not relevant today. And of course you already know that she had to close her set with her number one hit "The Glamorous
Life" that had everyone on their feet. Such an awesome performance.
I wish that I could give some commentary on the Tower Of Power performance but unfortunately since right after Sheila E performed and she pretty much left avoiding any interviews or photo opportunities, well THE REEL HUSTLER had left the building to make another event. But the time there I thoroughly enjoyed the show on yet another gorgeous evening at the fabulous Chene Park Amphitheater. As always I encourage you to click on the link below to the Chene Park site and check out the upcoming shows so that you can be sure to take advantage of a night under the stars, checking out some stars and hanging with the other local stars that will be attending. You will never be disappointed, rain or shine the show will go on!

THE INFILTRATOR
Plot:
During the 80's the Columbian drug cartel was headed by Pablo Escabar and was the largest distributor of drugs coming into America leaving the United states baffled on how to stop them. When U.S. Customs Special Agent Robert Mazur (Cranston) who was set to retire, comes up with the idea to rather than follow the drugs but follow the money because it should lead them to the top drug lord, he teams with renegade Special Agent Emir Abreu (Leguizamo) and then goes undercover as Bob Musella who is a major money launderer for the mob so that they can infiltrate the drug cartel's organization to show their connect dealings with some corrupt bankers. But while undercover he will see the deep rooted ugliness of violence and death within the drug dealing business as well as how easy it could be to become attach to the lavish lifestyle and familia environment all while trying not to be exposed and murdered.
Reel Talk:
Based on the true accounts of the drug epidemic during that era, this story takes you into some of what it took to take down the Mexican drug cartel and the banks that helped to launder the millions of dollars that was made from the illegal gains. Cranston and John Leguizamo head up a great cast to which all the performances were good, with Olympia Dukakis doing a superb job scene stealing during her cameo parts. This is a very good suspense thriller drama movie that is well worth cashing out. You will enjoy it, especially Breaking Bad fans who miss Cranston from it.
Starring: Bryan Cranston, John Leguizamo, Diane Kruger, Juliet Aubrey, Benjamin Bratt, Olympia Dukakis and Joseph Gilgun
Directed by: Brad Furman
Rated: R

PATRICE RUSHEN AT CHENE PARK
RUSHEN OUT THE RAIN
As I set out to what seemed like a perfect evening for my first Wednesday concert of the summer at the Chene Park Amphitheater I was excited because even though I have seen just about anyone you can imagine in concert I had never seen The artist on the roster for the midweek concert series, that being the multi talented legendary Patrice Rushen. But what started out as a gorgeous day would quickly be threatened by a severe thunderstorm with heavy rain that had me contemplating if I was going to make the event or better yet if the show was even going to happen?
Well my partner and I still rode down to the venue and parked, sitting in the vehicle with the anticipation that the rain would let up but to no avail so when we heard them announcing Ms. Rushen to the stage we knew that if she wasn't gonna let the rain stop her we were not gonna let it stop us. We jumped out and made our way to the entrance and safely under the pavilion to catch her first song hating that I missed the opening act of Detroit saxophonist Yancyy.
To start off her set she went with her classic hit "Number One" and had the mild crowd that was also brave enough to weather the storm on their feet. She then continued to follow up with some of her other classic jams like "Forget Me Nots" and "Remind Me" before going into an all out jam session with her band mates, each a very talented musician. The woman thou is BAD!
So what could have been a wash out night turned into another good time at one of Detroit's premier venues, Chene Park, proving that they are prepared for those rainy nights such as this one and yes the show will go on. Please be sure to check the website link below for more hot up coming shows whether the Wednesday concert series or the Friday / Saturday night shows and take advantage of the riverfront estabilshment...rain or shine.

THE PURGE: ELECTION YEAR
Plot:
It is election time and Leo Barnes (Grillo) who was a police Sargent who turned vigilante during The Purge: Anarchy is now head of a government security team that is assigned to protect Senator Charlie Roan (Mitchell) who is running in the presidential race. Her primary mission if elected would be to eliminate the annual event "The Purge", the one day that gives people 12 hours to commit whatever heinous crimes and they will be legal. This is something that the counsel of founders do not want so this purge event will be the first time that political figures are not granted immunity, leaving Senator Roan as a target to be assassinated by whoever claims the prize. This also means that Leo has his work cut out for him because he must keep her alive so that she can hopefully win the election and keep himself alive while the streets are filled with blood from The Purge.
Reel Talk:
If you saw the previous 2 Purge films you pretty much know what to expect from this third installment to the purging experience, you know blood, violence and lots of senseless killings. Frank Grillo follows up his role from The Purge: Anarchy as the take no prisoner butt kicker Leo Barnes. Story wise this one is so much better than the second film and to be honest not as much gore. The Purge films has built up a strong fan base so they will enjoy this one as well. It is a busy film that will keep your attention so you won't get bored. A good weekend movie that is worth checking out if you're into the craziness of senseless violence.
Starring: Frank Grillo, Elizabeth Mitchell, Mykelti Williamson, Joseph Julian Soria, Betty Gabriel, Jerry Serpico and Edwin Hodge
Directed by: James DeMonaco

THE LEGEND OF TARZAN
Plot:
Having been found and assuming his family name of John Clayton after spending some years in the African jungles as Tarzan (Skarsgard), he is enjoying life in London with his wife Jane (Robbie). His current life situation will soon be disrupted when the government wants him to go back into the jungle as Tarzan to help George Washington Williams (Jackson) in stopping a greedy emperor from taking control of Africa. Reluctantly he takes the assignment but soon it turns into a rescue mission when the emperor's top assistant the ruthless Leon Rom (Waltz) kidnaps Jane with the intentions of trapping Tarzan, getting him out the way so that Leon can bring in a massive army to enslave the people of Africa and take control of their diamond mines.
Reel Talk:
It has been quite awhile that we have seen a movie about the leather loin clothed, tree swinging, echo screaming king of the jungle "Tarzan". Well the wait is over and Alexander Skarsgard takes on the role of the jungle man. While this film is heavy with CGI effects (and I wonder why out of a lot of films this one was not done in 3D?), it is full of action and very entertaining with fights and humor. The cast does a great job seeing how you have some of the best in the business with Christoph Waltz, Samuel L. Jackson and Margot Robbie. Really the only thing that was off in this movie was Tarzan's trademark scream, it could have been a lot better than what was presented. But still this is a film that is worth spending the bucks to check out.
Starring: Alexander Skarsgard, Margot Robbie, Christoph Waltz, Samuel L. Jackson and Djimon Hounsou
Directed by: David Yates
Rated: PG-13
I give it 4 corn dogs.

NELLY / KEYSHIA COLE AT CHENE PARK
GETTING HOT IN HERE!!!
It was another hot Friday night in the city of Detroit and what better way to cool off than to be down on the waterfront at the outdoor Chene Park Amphitheater to catch another exciting concert. On this mild summer evening the riverfront concert venue hosted the St. Louis rapper Nelly and the sexy songstress Keyshia Cole.
For reason unknown to me and the modest crowd that was in attendance the show started but was delayed a good while waiting for the main opening act of Keyshia Cole but when she finally took to the stage it was well worth the wait as she went into her song vault to sing her hits "Trust and Believe, Love, Enough Of No Love and Heaven Sent" to name a few. During her set she took a break to thank all the people that supports her and thanking Detroit telling the fans how much she loved them and their city. I guess she came prepared for the summer night because she came out with a very casual outfit of cut off jean shorts, a half sport tee top and a jean shirt over it. Still she came to sing and entertain and that she did with no complaints from the audience.
After a very brief intermission the main act "Nelly" took to the stage sporting black jeans and a black "DETROIT-VS-EVERYBODY" tee shirt to show his love for the "D". Right from the start he had the crowd up out their seats as he went right in with some of his old hits like "Country Grammar". After about a few songs I had to cut out (due to the late start that pushed the time off) so I was not able to catch his complete set, but I can only imagine that he got it hot in there.
I say it all the time that if you want to really enjoy one of Detroit's true gems, especially on a beautiful night, you have to attend a concert at Chene Park. You get a view of the wonderful riverfront, catching the privileged boaters out partying on the river, beautiful skys and some of the hottest shows to hit the city during the summertime. Be sure to go to the Chene Park website below to check the schedule for upcoming shows at the outdoor amphitheater. Hope to see you there one beautiful night!
