ANNIE
Plot:
Little orphan Annie (Wallis) living under the foster care of Hannigan (Diaz), a mean, money hungry, man seeking ex-video star, continues to have dreams of one day her parents returning to claim her. While out one day chasing a dog being abused by a group of boys she is saved from being hit by a van by the current mayoral candidate, billionaire cell phone entrepreneur Will Stacks (Foxx). After a few failed attempts with his community campaign efforts, he is urged by his political marketing manager Guy (Cannavale) and his personal assistant Grace (Byrne) to take the streetwise Annie in to live with him a few weeks to boost his ratings in the election poll. But neither would know that soon they would grow to the point of both needing each other to fill the void of being without family.
Reel Talk:
I think everyone that left the screening had the songs "The Sun Will Come Out Tomorrow" or "It's A Hard Knock Life" stuck in their head...LOL! I have to be honest and say that I was a little on the fence about how they would pull off remaking the 1982 classic movie Annie with the new various changes. Let's just say a job well done. The casting was very good, you will just adore Quvenzhane' Wallis as Annie and enjoy the humor of Jamie Foxx as Will Stacks replacing Daddy Warbucks. Even the new uptempo hip hop flaired versions of the music seems to work in this film. Of course there will be some who have a problem with the ethnic change of Annie's appearance but oh well, they will be alright. This is definitely a good family movie worth the bucks.
Starring: Jamie Foxx, Quvenzhane' Wallis, Rose Byrne, Bobby Cannavale, Adewale Akinnouye-Agbaje, Cameron Diaz and David Zayas
Directed by: Will Gluck
Rated: PG

NIGHT AT THE MUSEUM: SECRET OF THE TOMB
Plot:
Larry Daley (Stiller) still works as the security guard at the museum but he also takes on the task of the special effects manager for a private party hosted at night so that the usual wax figures can come to life. Strangely while the Egyptian gold tablet that eludes the magic that gives life to the museum characters starts to rapidly corrode, it causes them to act erratic and spoils the event. Larry learns that the secret about the tablet is at the Egyptian tomb exhibit in a London museum so he along with his teen son and a group of his favorite wax pals set out on the voyage to save what's left of the tablet so that it will reserve their ability to come alive at night.
Reel Talk:
This is the best one of the trilogy series. A good family movie that has it all, action, comedy and drama. Ben Stiller back together with his usual all star cast of the late Robin Williams, Owen Wilson, Steve Coogan and now added the scene stealing Rebel Wilson as well as some special cameos from screen legends like Dick Van Dyke and the late Mickey Rooney made this movie very entertaining and quite worthwhile. Shawn Levy who directed all three Night At The Museum movies does a good job on this one as he stepped it up a little bit more with the special effects. Like I mentioned a good movie to take the entire family.
Starring: Ben Stiller, Robin Williams, Owen Wilson, Steve Coogan, Ricky Gervais and Rebel Wilson

SPIELBERG FINDS SOPHIE FOR THE BFG
DreamWorks
Studios announced today that newcomer Ruby Barnhill has been cast as
the young girl, Sophie, in Roald Dahl’s beloved classic story, “The
BFG.” Steven Spielberg will direct the film adaptation of the children’s
novel. Published in 1982, “The BFG” is the tale of a young London girl
and the mysterious Giant who introduces her to the beauty and peril of
Giant Country. Barnhill joins Mark Rylance who has been cast as the “Big
Friendly Giant.”
“The
BFG” will be 10-year-old Ruby Barnhill’s first feature film role. She
has been acting for two years and will appear in
the upcoming BBC BAFTA award-winning children’s drama “Four O’Clock
Club.” Ruby lives in Cheshire with her parents, younger sister and Tom
the cat and is a member of her local youth theatre.
“I feel incredibly lucky and I’m so happy,” said Ruby Barnhill. “Sophie gets to go on this wonderful adventure and I’m so
excited that I get to play her.”
“After
a lengthy search, I feel Roald Dahl himself would have found Ruby every
bit as marvelous as we do,” said Steven Spielberg.
“We have discovered a wonderful Sophie in Ruby Barnhill.”
Luke
Kelly, Managing Director of the Roald Dahl Literary Estate and Roald
Dahl's grandson, said, “The character of Sophie is
one of the most endearing young heroes in Roald Dahl’s stories. She is
as brave as she is curious and has an innate sense of wonder. Many
congratulations to Ruby on landing the role. We hope that making ‘The
BFG’ proves an utterly magical adventure for her.”
DreamWorks
acquired the rights to the book in 2010 after Kathleen Kennedy brought
it to the company. Melissa Mathison, who
last teamed with Spielberg and Kennedy on "E.T.," has written the
screenplay. Spielberg, Frank Marshall and Sam Mercer will produce while
Kennedy, John Madden and Michael Siegel are on board as Executive
Producers. Kristie Macosko Krieger and Adam Somner
are Co-Producers.
Spielberg
will begin production on "The BFG" in early 2015 and it will open in
U.S. theaters on July 1, 2016. The Walt Disney
Company is distributing the film in the U.S. and select international
territories while Mister Smith Entertainment is handling distribution in
Europe, Africa and the Middle East. DreamWorks’ partner,
Reliance, will distribute the film in India.

TOP FIVE
Plot:
Andre Allen (Rock), a superstar comedian/actor who now wants to no longer do comedy, while in the midst of promoting his new drama movie and just days away from his wedding to reality star Erika Long (Union) he reluctantly takes on an interview with New York Times reporter Chelsea Brown (Dawson). The reporter tags along with the celebrity to find out why he no longer feels that he is relevant as a comedian which he takes her through some of his past encounters, then to meet his friends and relatives but while the two are together they get to know each others secrets and they also began to acquire feelings for each other putting them both in compromising positions.
Reel Talk:
This is by far the funniest movie that I have seen this year! Chris Rock who also wrote and directed this movie went to the comedy bank and cashed in on favors from his friends as he has a host of appearances from the likes of Cedric The Entertainer, J.B. Smoove, Kevin Hart, Jerry Seinfeld, Adam Sandler, Whoopi Goldberg to name just a few and all lending to the hilariousness of this film. There are some scenes that although raunchy they will have you rolling with laughter. Now with that being said parents please note that when a movie has a "R" rating some material may not be suitable for children which means that your child should not be viewing it. This is definitely a good movie with some good laughs that I say is worth the admission.
Starring: Chris Rock. Rosario Dawson, J.B. Smoove, Gabrielle Union, Romany Malco and Cedric The Entertainer

To the

“I was thrilled when Disney invited me to be part of this very

about the power of teamwork, tenacity and faith, and I’m honored to now
be part of the ‘McFarland, USA’ team.”
Niki Caro,
the director of “McFarland, USA,” returned to McFarland to shoot the
music video and says of Juanes’ participation, “I’m thrilled to have

online following of over 18 million fans. The Colombian superstar’s
dedication as a global activist also extends far beyond his passionate
lyrics and is seen in his wide ranging charitable work for his own Mi
Sangre Foundation and as a co-founder of the "Paz

realize the boys’ exceptional running ability,
things begin to change. Soon something beyond their physical gifts
becomes apparent—the power of family relationships, their unwavering
commitment to one another and their incredible work ethic. With grit and
determination, the unlikely band of runners eventually
overcomes the odds to forge not only a championship cross-country team
but an enduring legacy as well. Along the way, Coach White realizes that

HORRIBLE BOSSES 2
Plot:
The misfit trio of Nick (Bateman), Kurt (Sudeikis) and Dale (Day) are back at it again. This time rather than plot to kill their bosses, they try to strike it out on their own as entrepreneurs only to end up being hoodwinked by a billionaire Bert Hanson (Waltz) that puts them in a financial crisis. They at first come up with the idea to kidnap the wealthy man's spoiled but scorned son Rex (Pine) but decides against it but then they are extorted into it by the rebellious son so that he can collect the money to maintain his lavish lifestyle. With the cops hot on their trail, the not so smart threesome must come up with a plan not to get caught, stay out of jail and not get killed while they are framed for the foiled caper.
Reel Talk:
These guys (Bateman, Sudeikis and Day) are the modern day Three Stooges. They are hilariously stupid and funny. Now if you're not a fan of over the top, raunchy humor you will not appreciate this movie. You have to go in with the notion that you are open to raw stupid slapstick comedy and a desire to laugh. This is an all around fun movie with a good cast. Definitely a must see movie and worth the admission.
Starring: Jason Bateman, Jason Sudeikis, Charlie Day, Jennifer Aniston, Kevin Spacey, Jamie Foxx, Chris Pine and Christopher Waltz

INTO THE WOODS / Q&A WITH CAST & FILMMAKERS PICS
Images from the Q&A with the cast and filmmakers of INTO THE WOODS (Meryl Streep, Emily Blunt, James Corden, Anna Kendrick, Chris Pine, Tracey Ullman, Christine Baranski, director Rob Marshall and screenwriter James Lapine) are now available. The cast & filmmakers took part in a Q&A in NY simultaneously seen in LA on Saturday, November 22. Into the Woods opens in theaters Christmas Day.
“Into the Woods” is a modern twist on several of the beloved Brothers Grimm fairy tales, intertwining the plots of a few choice stories and exploring the consequences of the characters’ wishes and quests. This humorous and heartfelt musical follows the classic tales of Cinderella (Anna Kendrick), Little Red Riding Hood (Lilla Crawford), Jack and the Beanstalk (Daniel Huttlestone), and Rapunzel (MacKenzie Mauzy), all tied together by an original story involving a Baker and his Wife (James Corden and Emily Blunt), their wish to begin a family and their interaction with the Witch (Meryl Streep), who has put a curse on them.
Rob Marshall, the acclaimed filmmaker behind the Academy Award®-winning musical “Chicago” and Disney’s “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides,” directs the film, which is based on the Tony®-winning original musical by James Lapine, who also penned the screenplay, and legendary composer Stephen Sondheim, who provides the music and lyrics. Produced by John DeLuca, Marshall, “Wicked” producer Marc Platt and Callum McDougall, “Into the Woods” will be released in theaters December 25, 2014.

THE HUNGER GAMES: MOCKINJAY-PT 1
Plot:
After winning the last Hunger Games and embarrassing President Snow (Sutherland), Katniss Everdeen's (Lawrence) district is destroyed so she and her family take refuge in another district run by President Alma Coin (Moore) who wants Katniss to represent the people of the districts by becoming the face of the Mockinjay. She decides to to do it but only after some demands are agreed to, one being that her friend Peeta Merllark (Hutcherson), who she believed died but is now being used as the spokesperson for Capitol by President Snow, gets rescued. Once she becomes the Mockinjay rep, Snow wages an all out war against the districts to bring them to complete ruins for their rebellious ways and to break Katniss' spirit.
Reel Talk:
Being the third installment to the Hunger Games and with the war between districts and Capitol now in the works you would think that the action would be stepped up, but unfortunately this one is just as boring as the previous two. Everyone says that you should read the books to follow along but I can only imagine that the novels are just as slow and boring. The only real enjoyment for me was seeing the late Philip Seymour Hoffman in one of his last roles on screen, always enjoy his acting. Outside of that this movie is a complete bore. You can wait to catch it on DVD or even cable, unless you enjoyed the book then knock yourself out.
Starring: Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Woody Harrelson, Donald Sutherland, Philip Seymour Hoffman and Julianne Moore

BEYOND THE LIGHTS
Plot:
Noni (Mbatha-Raw) is a young, beautiful and talented singer that is a guaranteed superstar on the rise, but she is just so overwhelmed by the pressures of the entertainment business and her over bearing mother/manager Macy Jean (Driver). When she is at the point where she feels transparent and can't take it anymore, she attempts to take her life only to be saved by Kaz (Parker), the young police officer assigned to protect her. From that very moment the two have an instant connection that will change their lives and take them on one romantic roller coaster, leaving them to make life altering decisions regarding them and their careers.
Reel Talk:
This is the 2014 version of Costner/Houston's 1992 "The Bodyguard". This is not a remake but just a similar overtone of a superstar that falls in lover with her protector. With that being said this film is just as good, with a good story of two young people with promising careers being steered by their parents who are trying to live life through the children. The chemistry between Mbatha-Raw and Parker is just as good as that of the two stars of The Bodyguard. Minnie Driver, who still looks good and Danny Glover put in good roles as the parents of each of the two lead characters. This is an excellent love story movie that is one to catch. Must See!!!
Starring: Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Nate Parker. Minnie Driver, Richard Colson Baker and Danny Glover

DUMB AND DUMBER TO
Plot:
It has been 20 years that Lloyd (Carrey) spent in a nursing home to prank his best friend Harry (Daniels). When he realizes that Harry is in need of a kidney donation and finds out he also has an adult daughter that may be the way to saving his life, the two misfits set out on a cross country journey to find the young lady. While on this adventure the two become involve in a murder plot against the rich father that adopted Harry's daughter from his greedy wife and her lover. But these crooks could never have imagine the buffoonery that will be in store for them by the pair of grown and adult kid like Harry and Lloyd.
Reel Talk:
Yep...it has been 20 long years since these two graced the big screen as the moronic pair that had us rolling with laughter. The question was will they be able to live up to the success of the first one since it has been so long? Well the wait is over and it is as if the pair picked right up where they left off 2 decades ago, ready to bust your belly with their over the top crazy antics. Now I had heard a few people complaining as we left the screening that it was just a stupid movie. There is no denying that it is but what were they expecting, A more subdued version than the first one? A more intellectual script this time around? Uuuurtt!!! Wrong answer, you get exactly what you should expect from this movie, pure unadulterated, raw and stupid humor. Don't go there expecting anything more than that or yes you will be disappointed. Theses guys can wait another 20 years and put out Dumb And Dumber 3 and it will be just as funny because they will be just as stupid. Worth checking out!
Starring: Jim Carrey, Jeff Daniels, Rob Riggle. Laurie Holden, Rachel Melvin and Kathleen Turner
Directed by: Bobby Farrelly and Peter Farrelly
Rated: PG-13
