A WALK IN THE VWOODS

Plot:

Just having returned back to the states from promoting his latest novel and then attending the funeral of one of his friends, book writing author Bill Bryson (Redford) starts feeling that he needs something during his aging process to give his life a challenge. So against his wife Catherine's (Thompson) protest he decides on hiking the Appalachian Trail, one of the most vigourous hiking expedition in the world. But just when it starts looking bleek on finding a backpacking mate because all his friends think he is crazy, he gets a call from his long lost friend Stephen Katz (Nolte) who is willing to take the journey with him. As the two aged men engage into their adventure they rekindle the friendship they had been missing all while experiencing life in the wilderness and coping with a host of testing obstacles while they try to complete their mission.

Reel Talk:

This was actually an excellent movie that I really enjoyed. With so many movies these days that are packed with action and special effects, these two veteran actors Robert Redford and Nick Nolte relied on their raw talents with the plush natural scenery of the Appalachian Trail as the backdrop for this film. They used all their years of entertaining us to still provide us with a great hilariously funny movie about two men well over their prime and the will they have to take on the challenges of the world and the bond of their friendship. A movie that I say you can cash out and trust me you will not be disappointed.

Starring: Robert Redford, Nick Nolte, Emma Thompson, Mary Steenburgen, Nick Offerman and Kristen Schaal

I give it 5 corn dogs.
