STRAIGHT FROM COMPTON TO DETROIT'S CASS TECH
Oh so you thought it was over huh??? Well it was still going down on a beautiful Thursday afternoon July 23, 2015 as we went to Detroit's Cass Technical High School for a special gathering for the school's senior class. Detroit rapper Big Sean a former student and graduate of the school who along with Adidas Originals and The Sean Anderson Foundation opened The Sean Anderson Studio Of Infinite Possibilities in June 2015, a one of a kind recording studio equipped with the latest technology enabling the students of Cass Tech to refine and realize their musical aspirations and dreams. Well on this day he had another gift for his alma mater as he surprised the assembled students with appearances from Ice Cube (producer), F. Gary Gray (director), O'Shea Jackson Jr. (actor) and Jason Mitchell (actor) who were in town promoting their upcoming film "Straight Outta Compton". They sat down for a brief panel discussion about the movie with Big Sean serving as the moderator. The film tells the story of how five young teens from the streets of Compton came together and formed the rap group N.W.A. that rapped raw and uncensored about the struggles and hardships of growing up in one of the most dangerous cities in the country. It also shows their rise to becoming rap superstars and the contractual disputes that would lead to the break up of the group. Well your boy was there for the surprise school encounter coming off the heal of the previous evening's private advance screening of the movie that was followed by a Q&A panel discussion by the cast members also hosted by Big Sean. The life of THE REEL HUSTLER!!!
STRAIGHT OUTTA COMPTON opens in theaters August 14, 2015.
