“THE HITMAN'S BODYGUARD” BEGINS FILMING WITH RYAN REYNOLDS, SAMUEL L. JACKSON,
GARY OLDMAN, ELODIE YUNG AND SALMA HAYEK

LONDON - Principal photography began today on Millennium Films' “The Hitman’s Bodyguard” starring Ryan Reynolds, Samuel L. Jackson, Gary Oldman, Elodie Yung and Salma Hayek. The film is directed by Patrick Hughes (Expendables 3) from a script by Tom O’Connor.  Lionsgate is distributing in the US and the UK.

“The Hitman’s Bodyguard” is an action comedy about the world’s top protection agent (Reynolds) and his new client: a notorious hitman who came in from the cold (Jackson).  They’ve been on opposite ends of a bullet for years.  They hate each other.  Now they’re stuck together and have 24 hours to get from England to The Hague. The only thing standing in their way is everything a murderous Eastern European dictator (Oldman) can throw at them.

The film stars Ryan Reynolds (Deadpool, The Proposal) as protection agent Michael Bryce, Samuel L. Jackson (The Legend of Tarzan, Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children, Django Unchained, The Hateful Eight) as hitman Darius Kincaid, and Gary Oldman (The Dark Knight Rises, The Dark Knight) as Eastern European dictator Vladislav Dukhovich. The movie also features Salma Hayek (Grown Ups, Tale of Tales, Frida) as Darius’ wife Sonia Kincaid, and Elodie Yung (Daredevil, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo) as Interpol agent Amelia Roussel.

Producers are Mark Gill, John Thompson, Matt O’Toole and Les Weldon. The executive producers are Avi Lerner, Trevor Short, Boaz Davidson, Christine Otal, Douglas Urbanski, Jason Bloom, Christa Campbell and Lati Grobman.

Patrick Hughes' creative team includes director of photography Jules O'Loughlin (Black Sails), production designer Russell De Rozario (Kick-Ass 1 & 2) and costume designer Stephanie Collie (London Has Fallen).
"The Hitman's Bodyguard" is Reynolds’ next film after the enormous success of Deadpool.

THE HUNTSMAN: WINTER'S WAR

Plot:

Eric The Huntsman (Hemsworth) while on a mission of revenge against Queen Freya who kidnapped him as a child and raised him for her personal army known as the Huntsmen then ousted and banished him to death because of his love affair with fellow huntsmen Sara (Chastain) who he believes dead, sets out to retrieve Snow White's stolen mirror before Queen Freya can get her hands on it giving her total and complete unlimited power. As he fights to prevent the mirror falling into the wrong hands it is not realized that it was already under the control of the wicked and evil Ravenna (Theron) who has an agenda of her own.

Reel Talk:

For those that don't know this is the sequel to the 2012 film "SNOW WHITE AND THE HUNTSMAN" reprising Chris Hemsworth role as The Huntsman and Charlize Theron's as Ravenna. Much like the first film it is visually good but pretty much a slow, boring movie. There is some action but nothing that will merit keeping your attention throughout the duration of the film. This is a movie that you can pretty much wait for it to come on cable, would not waste the money to catch it at the theater.

Starring: Chris Hemsworth, Charlize Theron, Jessica Chastain, Emily Blunt, Nick Frost, Sope Dirisu
Directed BY: Cedric Nicolas-Troyan
Rated: PG-13

MILES AHEAD

Plot:

Looking to have a break out story, Rolling Stone journalist Dave Brill (McGregor) tries to secure an interview with the reclusive, drug addicted genius musician Miles Davis (Cheadle). Reluctant at first Miles then decides to grant the resilient reporter the interview regarding his musical career, tumultuous marriage to his wife Frances (Corinealdi), drug use and more but he would have to chauffeur the jazz great around to purchase his drugs, a meeting with the record label and help him get back some stolen recordings of his latest work from a ruthless mobster. This will turn out to be a dangerous roller coaster ride that he will never forget.

Reel Talk:

Let me start by saying that Don Cheadle is one heck of an actor who has been a superb actor at most of the roles he has portrayed but I was worried about him taking on the role of Miles Davis on this film which he also took on the duty as director. Well I can say that I needed not to worry because he does a masterful job as the late great trumpeter. There are even moments when you sort of felt as if you were actually watching Miles Davis on the screen. This was definitely a great movie, my only gripe would be that it limited the story around his relationship to his first wife when it could have been stretched to cover more regarding his life and career. But again this was a great movie definitely one that you should cash out to see.

Starring: Don Cheadle, Ewan McGregor, Emayatzy Corinealdi and Keith Stanfield
Directed by: Don Cheadle
Rated: R

I give it 5 corn dogs.

EVERYBODY WANTS SOME

Plot:

Upon arriving on campus Jake (Jenner) and Plummer (Baker) are a couple of rookies on the college baseball team who are preparing for the beginning of the school semester. While settling in they become acquainted with their fellow team mates who are a bunch of rebellious, hard partying, womanizing guys waiting for the season to start so that they can get on the diamond and show what they got. Jake while out with the guys meets Beverly (Deutch) an art student who although not a fan of loud and arrogant baseball players, is attracted to his quiet, laid back demeanor and so the two begins to date before classes start for them both.

Reel Talk:

This coming of age movie is based in the 80's which was some good years and it is sort of a throwback of the films during that era. It tries but it fails to live up to the films of yesteryear's because right off it lacked any real storyline. Just starts off  and  goes with no real direction or objective other than to I guess to make us laugh which is minimal. The best thing about this movie is the soundtrack which was jamming with all the old school hits from the 80's. This is definitely a film that you can wait and catch on cable. Hey why don't they just do a remake of ANIMAL HOUSE? LOL!!!

Starring: Blake Jenner, Juston Street, Wyatt Russell, Glenn Powell, J. Quinton Johnson, Temple Baker and Zoey Deutch

THE JUNGLE BOOK

Plot:

Deep in the jungle, Mowgli (Sethi) a little boy that was found as a baby by Bagheera (voiced by Kingsley) and turned over to a pack of wolves and raised as one of their own enjoys the camaraderie he receives from the other animals of the jungle. While relishing with the other animals of all sorts at a truce amongst a peace rock that is displayed until the water level rises when the rain causes flooding, Mowgli is threatened by a menacing tiger named Shere Khan (voiced by Elba), that when the peace rock disappears he will hunt the man-cub and slaughter him preventing him from becoming a man who may grow to hunt the animals. Fearing for his life he takes off to seek a safer environment but soon realizes that the tiger is not his only threat in the jungle and eventually feels that he has to stop running and face his fears.

Reel Talk:

There has been several versions of The Jungle Book but none quite like this one. Either it was all animated or all human characters, but this one has Neel Sethi as the only human character and the animals are all CGI (computer-generated imagery) and very well done I might add. This Disney movie was exciting, intense and a lot of fun. It held the attention of the children that filled the theater who attended the screening along with myself. They even chimed along with the wolves as they howled through out the movie, it was pretty funny listening to the little wanna be wolves...LOL! This is definitely a great family movie that everyone will enjoy. Worth every penny spent for the ticket.

Starring: Neel Sethi, voices by Bill Murray, Ben Kingsley, Idris Elba, Lupita Nuyong'o. Scarlett Johansson, Giancarlo Esposito, Christopher Walken and Garry Shandling (may he R.I.P.)
Directed by: Jon Favreau
Rated: PG

I give it 5 corn dogs.

BARBERSHOP: THE NEXT CUT

Plot:

It has been over ten years and Calvin's (Ice Cube) barbershop is still a fixture in the neighborhood, but to maintain he had to knock down a wall and take on a partner Angie (Hall) who runs the adjoined lady's salon. Calvin, Angie, old faithful master barber Eddie (Cedric The Entertainer) and the rest of the crew While operating a respectable business, struggle with the surrounding effects of the war from Chicago's rivaling street gangs. With the streets being overrun with senseless bloodshed and not pleased with the states' idea to solve the problem, Calvin and the staff decides to host a weekend truce between the gangs offering free hair services as a start to stop the violence. But also on Calvin's mind he must come to terms about if he is going to relocate the shop to a better neighborhood so that he can save his teen son from the lures of the street gangs that are enticing the young boy.

Reel Talk:

After a long wait our favorite barber shop has returned. Yes Ice Cube is back as shop owner Calvin, along with Cedric The Entertainer as the foul mouthed, wise cracking Eddie, Eve is back as Terri and a host of newbies in Regina Hall, Common. Nicki Minaj and scene stealers the hilariously funny J.B. Smoove, Lamorne Morris and Utkarsh Ambudkar. That's right just like the previous films this one is just as funny with a good message with regards to the violence that is plaguing the streets of our urban cities. A very good movie that I highly recommend. Good hearty laughing is always what the doctor prescribes and this will surely fill that prescription.

Starring: Ice Cube, Cedric The Entertainer, Regina Hall, Eve, Jazsmin Lewis, Common, J.B. Smoove, Nicki Minaj, Lamorne Morris and UtKarsh Ambudkar
Directed by: Malcolm D. Lee
Rated: PG-13

I give it 4 and a half corn dogs.

THE BOSS

Plot:

Michelle Darnell (McCarthy) who as a kid grew up in a home for orphans and never knew the meaning of a family environment, now she is multi millionaire business mogul who will stop at nothing and step on anybody to stay on top. Her self centered entrepreneurship is soon halted when her business nemesis and ex-lover Ranault (Dinklage) informs to the FBI that she was involved doing insider trading causing her to loose all her assets and a brief stint in prison. Upon her release she realizes that she has no friends or family to turn to so she imposes on her ex mistreated assistant Claire (Bell) who reluctantly takes her in to stay with her and her daughter Rachel (Anderson). It is not long before Michelle along with Claire and her daughter, finds a way to work her way back into a lucrative business but the price she will pay will be the bond of unexpected family love which she is not accustom to.

Reel Talk:

This is another one of your typical Melissa McCarthy films. You get exactly what you have seen and come to expect from her roles. Not saying that this is a bad thing because she is very entertaining and is good for making you laugh with her raw, raunchy, foul mouthed style. It's just her movies are not great, definitely not bad but just good enough to say it is an enjoyable movie. With that being said THE BOSS is a good movie, just silly enough to have you laughing. Not a movie that you would have to rush out to see but would make for a good matinee movie.

Starring: Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Bell, Peter Dinklage, Ella Anderson, Tyler Labine and Kathy Bates
Directed by: Ben Falcone
Rated: R

I give it 3 corn dogs.
