Reel Talk:
This was one visually beautiful mess of a movie. The cinematographic backdrop of the film is awesome but the story is just awful. It is a lot going on that takes you in a lot of directions that lead to nowhere is the best way to sum it up. It has an all star cast but none of the stars shine enough to help this movie along. The action is cool but again not good enough to mask the lackluster love story that is the premise of the movie. Don't waste your money or your time, wait til it hits cable television for free.
Starring: Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Gerard Butler, Brenton Thwaites, Courtney Eaton, Elodie Yungf, Bryan Brown and Chadwick Boseman
Directed by: Alex Proyas
Rated: PG-13
I give it 2 corn dogs (1 for vthe visual effects).

RACE
Plot:
When James Cleveland Owens (James) who was called Jesse by a previous teacher and he never corrected it, arrived at The Ohio State University to become a track sprinter under Coach Larry Snyder (Sudeikis), he had no idea that he would be training to participate for the upcoming Olympics. While the United States and the Germans were at odds regarding issues that had the Americans threatening to boycott their presence at the summer competition, Jesse under the guidance of his coach train and set records at the state competitions for colleges. With the various oppositions because of his skin color he wanted his feet to be his expression so when the United States finally agreed to join in the 1936 Olympic Games being held in Berlin, Jesse would attend then break and set new records winning four gold medals in the presence of Adolf Hitler, crushing his hopes for Aryan Supremacy from his country.
Reel Talk:
Powerful movie!!! Even though going into the theater one may know the history about Jesse Owens and his accomplishments, it does not diminish the intensity of the film. There were moments when I thought I was actually in Berlin. The performances from the cast was excellent, the young upcoming actor Stephan James did a great portrayal of Jesse Owens, this should be a breakout movie for him and Jason Sudeikis known normally for his comedic roles put in a surprisingly great performance as the hard nose Coach Snyder. This movie not only depicts Jesse's amazing athletic accomplishments but how he had to still cope, show his strength, resilience and character when his own country would not acknowledge what he did to defy the issues regarding his race (skin color). Excellent movie that I highly recommend...worth every dollar!
Starring: Stephan James, Jason Sudeikis, Eli Goree, Shanice Banton, Jeremy Irons, William Hurt and Carice Van Houten
Directed by: Stephan Hopkins
Rated: PG-13
I give it 5 corn dogs.

ZOOLANDER 2
Plot:
Due to some mishaps after his retiring from modeling that caused the death of his wife and his son taken from him because hew was deemed an unfit parent, Derek Zoolander (Stiller) becomes a reclusive hermit until he is approached to model again along with his longtime nemsis Hansel (Wilson). The two relunctantly team up to model again with the hope that this will help Zoolander regain custody of his son and also find out who is behind the mysterious murders of celebrities that are related to one of Zoolander's famed modeling poses. The dynamic modeling duo alongside with Special Agent Valentina (Cruz) infiltrates the fashion scene of France to thwarf the evil plot of Mugatu (Ferrell) and his menacing modeling minions.
Reel Talk:
It is hard to believe that it has been 15 years since the the first film Zoolander and now Ben Stiller is back as the director and star of his follow up film Zoolander 2. Stiller along with Owen Wilson, Will Ferrell and Justin Theroux are all back to revise their original characters along with a host of celebrity cameos. If you are a Zoolander fan or somewhat enjoyed the first film you may enjoy this one. There is not much to expect from this one, it brings the same silly humor that was created 15 years ago, only exception is that there are probably a ton more stars in this film than previously. Good for a few laughs but not one to rush out and see.
Starring: Ben stiller, Owen Wilson, Will Ferrell, Justin Theroux, Penelope Cruz, Kriten Wiig and Billy Zane

Rated: PG-13

DEADPOOL
Plot:
Wade Wilson (Reynolds) is a NYC wise cracking gun for hire mercenary, who while after completing a job meets Vanessa (Baccarin) at a local watering hole and the two go from a one night stand to becoming a romantic couple. Looking for a long happy ever after with his new love, Wade is sidetracked when he is diagnoised with terminal cancer. When presented with a chance at an experiment that offers him mortality he jumps at it. Even though it gives him the ablility to rejuvenate and regenerate his body he is left with a disfigured face because the head of the program Ajax (Skrein) was annoyed with his relentless badgering. So now it becomes a game of cat and mouse as the two chase after each other both with a mission of revenge on their mind.
Reel Talk:
DEADPOOL is a dead ringer masterpiece of a movie! It has super heros, action and humor, what more can you ask for? Out of all the Marvel Comic book movies this is the rawest yet. All though this is a comic book, super hero movie parents be warned this is not a kid friendly film. The violence is in your face bloody, there is sex and nudity, and no holds barred profane language hence the R rating. Ryan Reynolds is off the chain as the wise cracking Deadpool who just does not have a filter on what he will say or do. But despite the raunchy rawness this is an action pack film that is definitely worthy of cashing out to see.
Starring: Ryan Reynolds, Morena Baccarin, Ed Skrien, T.J. Miller, Gina Carano and Brianna Hildebrand
Directed by: Tim Miller
Rated: R
I give it 4 corn dogs.
