THE FINEST HOURS

Plot:

It is 1952 and the SS Pendleton during a savage storm is one of two oil tankers that is broken in half and destined to sink. The U.S. Coast Guard sent a rescue team for the other tanker unaware of the SS Pendleton's situation until it's distress horns are heard off the coast of Cape Cod by one of the townsmen. Coast Guard Chief Warrant Officer Cluff (Bana) sends Bernie Webber (Pine) and his three man crew out into the storm for a rescue attempt that many deemed as a suicide mission because of the violent high waves that may send the vessel to the bottom of the ocean. But Webber will use all his knowledge and training to help lead him and his team on their most daring and dangerous assignment to find and rescue the 33 men crew of the sinking tanker led by Ray Sybert (Affleck) who kept the unit afloat as long as he could.

Reel Talk:

Did I mention this movie was based on the true accounts of the most daring rescue by the U.S. Coast Guard? I always say that there are some jobs that aren't meant for some people and being a coast guard rescuer is definitely not for me but I am happy that there are people that are willing to put their life into the dangers of the water to save other's lives. With that being said this was one excellent movie with a great cast and great cinematography. Although I screened it in 3D which served no real purpose the visuals would be good with just basic viewing. Even though it was based on actual events and you may know the outcome it does not lessen the intensity of the film. Truly a must see worth cashing out to see.

Starring: Chris Pine, Casey Affleck, Ben Foster, Eric Bana and Holliday Grainger
Directed by: Craig Gillespie
Rated: PG-13

I give it 5 corn dogs.

J. protected so that he can lead them to the head of the criminal drug enterprise.

Reel Talk:

Ice Cube and Kevin Hart team again for the sequel to their 2014 hit film RIDE ALONG, to which they laughed all the way to the bank. Well again they had us rolling laughing as the two cops blunder their way through to solve another crime. It seems that Ice Cube who has a history of working with some of the hottest comedians and proving to have good, successful chemistry continues to keep his streak going because normally where it is hard to follow up on a good movie, this one is just as good as the original and by adding the funny man Ken Jeong, the battle of the little men will have you cracking up with laughter. A good action comedy with a good cast, definitely worth cashing out to check out.

When he is left attended by fellow trackers John Fitzgerald (Hardy), Bridger (Poulter) and Glass's son Hawk (Goodluck), Fitzgerald decides that Glass is a burden and kills his son while he watches, then buries him alive to die in the wilderness. But after seeing his son murdered he musters up enough strength to ascend from the dirt grave, tend to his wounds and then sets out on a course of revenge against the ruthless, murdering John Fitzgerald.

Reel Talk:

I don't know if I have ever mention this before but I have never really been all that impressed with Leonardo DiCaprio's acting, a few movies here or there but nothing outside of The Wolf Of Wall Street was exceptional. Well this is by far one of his best performances. He definitely carries this movie on his back along with his co-star Tom Hardy. Some very intense scenes that may not be suitable for the weak stomachs and certainly not for children but a really great movie. From beginning to the end you will be glued to the screen. But one thing for sure is that PETA will not be a fan of this film. This is an excellent movie well worth the bucks, so go check it out.
