THINK LIKE A MAN

Plot:

Think Like A Man centers on a group of male friends, each with his own unique characteristic and insight about relationships and women. In the midst of comedian Steve Harvey’s book ‘Act Like A Lady, Think Like A Man’ being released, which is suppose to give women incite to how men act and how they are to be treated, the guys find that they are now at war with the opposite sex regarding the control of the male/ female relationships based off what the women are reading from the book. Appearing to be losing the battle, the fellas decide to read the book thinking they can turn the tables, but can they really?

Reel Talk:

Right off the rip, this is a very funny movie and largely because of Kevin Hart, the guy is a stone fool. Just about every scene he’s in, you will get a laugh. The entire cast (an assortment of some beautiful and talented actors and actresses) is great for their selective roles and contributing to the complexities of their characters. The movie based off the actual book written by Steve Harvey, which did stir up some controversy within relationships, may just cause more rifts between men and women. Upon seeing this movie, just realize that the movie/ book, is not a relationship guideline but really just a form of entertainment. Overall this is a hilariously funny and entertaining film worth checking out.

Starring: Kevin Hart, Michael Ealy, Gabrielle Union, Jerry Ferrara, Meagan Good, Regina Hall, Taraji P. Henson, Terrence Jenkins and Romany Malco
Directed by: Tim Story
Rated: PG-13

THE CABIN IN THE WOODS

Plot:

Five college friends in need of a much needed break, set out on a weekend getaway to a cabin in the woods that is supposed to be owned by one of the teen’s relative. What they don’t know is that they were really hand picked to attend the cabin by a secret society that needed five persons with the same traits as the teens to be sacrificed for their yearly ritual. Realizing they are trapped, the teens must use all their survivor instincts to avoid being murdered by the cabins unimaginable terrors.

Reel Talk:

Ok still another dud of a horror movie! This one also lacking any originality, this one is like a cross between The Thirteenth Ghost and Friday The 13th. But what was lacking in scare area was made up with the humor. You will definitely get more laughs than jumps out of this movie which makes for the main entertainment. This is a film that you can really wait on the DVD.

Starring: Kristen Connolly, Chris Hemsworth, Anna Hutchinson, Fran Kranz, Jesse Williams, Richard Jenkins, Bradley Whitford and Brian White

THE THREE STOOGES

Plot:

Larry (Hayes), Curly (Sasso) and Moe (Diamantopolous), now adults, still reside at a small town orphanage ran by nuns that has housed them since they were left on the door step since being infants, still with hopes of being adopted. Well when the orphanage is scheduled to close within 30 days due to a lack of funds to maintain operation, the misfit trio set out on an adventure of their lifetime to try and raise the necessary monies to save their home. Dim witted and clueless they are soon engulfed by the fast pace of the big city, becoming involved in a murder for hire scheme that they botch and eventually must take any odd job to still try to attain the much needed funds.

Reel Talk:

Remakes and time period makeovers scare me because if it’s not done right, the original becomes demeaned and/or tainted. So upon my entering the advance screening for this movie, there was a huge question mark! Surprisingly this was a good movie. The Farrelly brothers did a good job in recreating the slapstick antics of the original Three Stooges with the new cast members. There were even moments for me when I could see flashbacks of the original stooges within their protégés. Even still some of the funnier scenes are with Larry David in drag as a scouring and bitter nun. Don’t go to see this movie with high expectations, but rather with intentions of just laughing from the hilarious stupidity provided by the threesome. Very funny and very entertaining film worth checking out at your convenience, not a must see.

Starring: Sean Hayes, Will Sasso, Chris Diamantopoulos, Jane Lynch, Sofia Vergara, Jennifer Hudson, Craig Bierko, Stephen Collins and Larry David
Directed by: Bobby and Peter Farrelly
Rated: PG

I give it 3 corn dogs.

AMERICAN REUNION

Plot:

It has been some years since Jim (Biggs) and his friends Oz (Klein), Kevin (Nicholas), Finch (Thomas) and even Stifler (Scott) have gotten together, actually since Jim’s and Michelle’s (Hannigan) wedding. Each now facing the realities of manhood and trying to cope with the pressures that come with it regarding women and work. Well they reunite for a weekend in their hometown of East Great Falls, MI for their high school reunion which you know will be one big crazy mess. The group will soon be faced with all the good and bad memories of their past from old girlfriends and schoolmates, along with some new twists that adds to their chaotic weekend festivities. But as always it gives them the opportunity to bond, party and come to terms with what matters the most, friends and family!

Reel Talk:

Well, well the gangs back together again! The entire cast from the original American Pie movies are back, although matured they are still just as crazy as when they were teens. This is probably the funniest one since the original film and by far the funniest movie this year. From beginning to end you will be rolling with laughter, and not from some over the top slapstick humor, but just some good ole fashion comedy. But the scene stealers are Scott as Stifler and Eugene Levy as Jim’s dad, both are hilarious. If you need a good laugh, you won’t go wrong with this movie, a must see!

Starring: Jason Bigg, Alyson Hannigan, Chris Klein, Thomas Ian Nicholas, Tara Reid, Seann William Scott, Mena Suvari, Eddie Kaye Thomas, Jennifer Coolidge and Eugene Levy
Directed by: Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg
