CHARLES ETCHERSON WSG THIS WAY OUTTT!!!

THIS WAY OUTT!!!

I always like when I get invited to private low keyed events, especially when it something I have no knowledge of because it just may surprise me. Well I got surprised yesterday evening when The Reel Hustler stepped up in the Jazz Underground a jazz club located at 6880 E. 12 Mile Rd. in Warren, MI to check out jazz musician and composer Charles Etcherson wsg This Way Outtt, which is a group of fellow friends and musicians from various areas like Florida, Tennessee, North Carolina, Detroit and Canada. Etcherson a Detroiter who now resides in North Carolina wanted to come home and preform for family and friends music from his new album. All I can say is that everyone in the packed jazz club enjoyed the show as the keyboardist and crew had the crowd grooving to their jazz fusion sound. I most definitely enjoyed myself and highly recommend that when you get the chance please grab a copy of his new music, you will not be disappointed. Great job Mr. Charles Etcherson!!!

JASON BOURNE

Plot:

It has been some years since Jason Bourne (Damon) has been on the grid of the CIA's radar but when they get a signal regarding someone probing into his personal file, CIA Director Robert Dewey (Lee) along with an ambitious Intel agent Heather Lee (Vikander) sets out to draw the rogue agent back in to prevent him from divulging their dirty secrets. But what they did not count on was him to start his own investigation pertaining to the death of his father and to lead him to the responsible individual. When Agent Lee realizes that things aren't what they appeared to be she tries to assist Bourne believing that she can gain his trust so that he would come in at her request but the corrupt Director Dewey has other ideas in store for both Bourne and Lee that does not involve them getting away alive.

Reel Talk:

It has been over ten years since Matt Damon graced us with the character Jason Bourne who he had started a franchise series with in the 2002 hit Bourne Identity, that then followed up with two more Bourne movies before taking a break and allowing Jeremy Renner to replace him in the 2012 film The Bourne Legacy. Well he is back and seems as if he has not lost a beat, stepping right back in to whip some crooked CIA butts. This film is much like the others, pretty much the same plot but no matter how similar the action or story lines you still seem to enjoy these type of movies and best believe they are not done with the series just yet. Matt Damon Bourne fans and die hard action junkies will definitely get a rush seeing this film. Enjoyable and entertaining and worth cashing out at the theaters.

Starring: Matt Damon, Tommy Lee, Alicia Vikander, Vincent Cassel, Julia Stiles, Ato Essandoh and Scott Shepherd
Directed by: Paul Greengrass
Rated: PG-13

I give it 3 corn corndogs.

ERIC BENET AT CHENE PARK

ANOTHER WONDERFUL WEDNESDAY NIGHT AT THE PARK

After a long hot day in Detroit with the temperature reaching close to 90 degrees, I was looking for a way to just cool down and what better way than to hit up the Wednesday Night Concert Series at the Chene Park Amphitheater with the feature
artist being Eric Benet. Now I was really close to not going because the heat had me in a lazy state but at about the last minute I thought, hey it is a beautiful day and it started to cool off so off to the show I go and best believe I have no regrets.

I arrived to the venue about midway through the performance of the very beautiful local singer Charity who was the opening act on the bill. This young woman was not just a pretty face but a very talented singer as well who got the almost packed
audience worked up with her strong performance. She did so well that it even had Mr. Benet come out to get a peek of her singing.

Now after her segment and a brief intermission Eric Benet took to the stage, comfortably sporting some jeans, tee shirt, a blazer and a summer hat and he started crooning the crowd with the jams that especially the women are familiar to. It had
been awhile since I have seen him perform but the singer / song writer can still put on a great show. He actually has an energetic show to which he is all over the stage dancing with random fans, getting some of the gawking boaters to blow their horns, grabbing someone's camera and taking selfies and most of all singing. It was certainly a treat to be out enjoying this talented singer and his exciting show while taking in the awesome ambiance of the riverfront view from the outdoor pavilion that displays the serene Detroit river. Oh what a night!

It is not too late if you have not been to the Chene Park Amphitheater, powered by The Right Productions, to enjoy the outdoor concert experience because there are still a few Wednesday shows available and plenty of prime concerts on the weekend. Just click on the link below to check out the website for upcoming shows. Hey if you have not been to any of the shows, you have no idea what you are missing. Rain or shine they are prepared to continue with the concerts.

SHEILA E AT CHENE PARK

A GLAMOROUS FRIDAY NIGHT!

As the Chene Park Amphitheater, powered by The Right Productions, continues to be one of Detroit's prolific venues for concerts they provided yet another exciting show on Friday evening. This time on another beautifully warm weathered evening the outdoor pavilion that sits along the Detroit riverfront hosted Sheila E and Tower Of Power.

Now before the main acts, opening the show was a local band, Infatuation, that got the party started with their hard charged and high energy performance. They had the audience dancing to their mesh sounds of R&B with a Rock and Roll flare setting the crowd up for the main course. Now what I thought and probably most the patrons there might have thought was that Tower Of Power would take to the stage next but that was not the case as the still relevant musician and singer Sheila E took to the stage after a very short intermission. Now everyone knows Sheila E as the percussionist who was under the mentor-ship and also girlfriend to the late great Prince and she had just performed a very powerful tribute selection to Prince at the BET Awards. So could we expect it that night? Well yes indeed she came to lay it out as she initially started out with some of her songs, banging away on her drums and then she dived right into her tribute performance honoring The Purple One. This woman is still one of the baddest percussionist out their and she is shutting down any critics thinking that she is still not relevant today. And of course you already know that she had to close her set with her number one hit "The Glamorous
Life" that had everyone on their feet. Such an awesome performance.

I wish that I could give some commentary on the Tower Of Power performance but unfortunately since right after Sheila E performed and she pretty much left avoiding any interviews or photo opportunities, well THE REEL HUSTLER had left the building to make another event. But the time there I thoroughly enjoyed the show on yet another gorgeous evening at the fabulous Chene Park Amphitheater. As always I encourage you to click on the link below to the Chene Park site and check out the upcoming shows so that you can be sure to take advantage of a night under the stars, checking out some stars and hanging with the other local stars that will be attending. You will never be disappointed, rain or shine the show will go on!

THE INFILTRATOR

Plot:

During the 80's the Columbian drug cartel was headed by Pablo Escabar and was the largest distributor of drugs coming into America leaving the United states baffled on how to stop them. When U.S. Customs Special Agent Robert Mazur (Cranston) who was set to retire, comes up with the idea to rather than follow the drugs but follow the money because it should lead them to the top drug lord, he teams with renegade Special Agent Emir Abreu (Leguizamo) and then goes undercover as Bob Musella who is a major money launderer for the mob so that they can infiltrate the drug cartel's organization to show their connect dealings with some corrupt bankers. But while undercover he will see the deep rooted ugliness of violence and death within the drug dealing business as well as how easy it could be to become attach to the lavish lifestyle and familia environment all while trying not to be exposed and murdered.

Reel Talk:

Based on the true accounts of the drug epidemic during that era, this story takes you into some of what it took to take down the Mexican drug cartel and the banks that helped to launder the millions of dollars that was made from the illegal gains. Cranston and John Leguizamo head up a great cast to which all the performances were good, with Olympia Dukakis doing a superb job scene stealing during her cameo parts. This is a very good suspense thriller drama movie that is well worth cashing out. You will enjoy it, especially Breaking Bad fans who miss Cranston from it.

Starring: Bryan Cranston, John Leguizamo, Diane Kruger, Juliet Aubrey, Benjamin Bratt, Olympia Dukakis and Joseph Gilgun
Directed by: Brad Furman
Rated: R

I give it 5 corn dogs.
